Remand Extended For Man Accused Of Murdering Wife By Ignatius Stephen & Malai FadleyRizal
Bandar Seri Begawan - The Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday granted the application for the extension of-the remand period for murder suspect Liew Say Koo on the grounds that investigations have to be further conducted into the case.
The defendant, said to be a well-known contractor, will be in custody for another two weeks and appear again in court on August 24.
Appearing before Senior Magistrate Faisal Pehin Hj Kefli, Liew, a 43-year-old Malaysian, was charged with murdering on July 12 this year his third wife, 25-year-old Limbang businesswoman, Wong Ai Na, who was found with 164 bruises and other injuries in a room of a hotel in Berakas. Section 302 carries the death penalty.
Before a packed courtroom, the Deputy Public Prosecutor Sultana Hj Sudin, in applying for a further remand of two weeks said that the police have yet to complete their investigations.
She told the court that the reports were not ready and that further consultations were needed with the doctors and the experts as to the cause of death.
The defence team led by Mr. Daljit Singh Sandhu, Mr. Vincent Joseph and Ms. Subrina Tan, applied for all police reports, statements and photographs to be given to the defence.
They also applied to interview the specialist Pathologist, Dr. PU Telesinghe of RIPAS Hospital on the post mortem report. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 46-year-old Malaysian man (LIEW SAY KOO ) who allegedly killed a woman, said to be his wife, at a hotel room in Berakas several weeks ago was ordered to be remanded for another two weeks by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday for further investigation to be conducted.
The defendant, Liew Say Koo, who was first produced in court on July 13, still faces the charge of killing his 26year-old Malaysian wife sometime in the evening of July 12 at a room in Orchid Garden Hotel.

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 26-year-old Malaysian woman was allegedly killed by another Malaysian said to be her husband (Liew Say koo From Kuching) in a grisly drama close to midnight at a leading hotel near the capital on Wednesday.
The 46-year-old Malaysian suspect identified as Liew Say Koo was produced in court yesterday for killing his Malaysian wife sometime in the evening of July 12 at room number 304, Orchid Garden Hotel in Berakas.
The man was ordered to be remanded at a police station for two weeks by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday on allegation of committing murder by causing the death of his so called third wife.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Dyg Suhana binti Haji Sudin said the defendant will be remanded at the Central Police Station until the next hearing on July 27 at 9.30am.
The prosecutor said the police are conducting further investigations.
Post-mortem on the deceased will be done today.
The defendant faces the death penalty if convicted.

Meanwhile, police said yesterday that the brawl occurred at around 11.30pm inside room number 304 on Wednesday night.
The victim from Limbang came to Brunei on July 9 while the man from Kuching works in the construction industry.
